WHO ARE WE?

We are the dedicated seventh graders from CMS committed to making a difference. After reading the book A Long Walk to Water, we became inspired to help change the lives of many people less fortunate than us. When we found out about the Iron Giraffe Challenge, we knew at once that we would have to enter.

WHAT IS THE CHALLENGE?

The Iron Giraffe Challenge is an annual competition run by the nonprofit organization Water for South Sudan. Schools compete  to see who can raise the most money for the charity. All of the money you donate goes towards building wells for underprivileged citizens in Sudan. Some of these people have to walk for many hours each day to collect water for themselves and their families. The water they collect comes from dirty ponds, rivers, and water holes, and is often contaminated with dangerous bacteria that makes people very sick. Wells bring fresh, clean water to these people, and save countless lives. Watch the short video below to learn more about the charity and it's purpose, or visit the website www.waterforsouthsudan.org.
